October’s In The Loop, with Mark Weinberg and Vashaunta Harris of the National Charter Schools Institute, will cover school safety and security. Designed for school leaders, board members, and authorizers, each episode delivers practical guidance to navigate the complexities of the charter school ecosystem.
Episode 3: School Safety and Security
Policy: Ensure a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors by implementing comprehensive safety measures and emergency preparedness protocols.
Procedure: Conduct regular safety drills, install security cameras in key areas, and enforce controlled access to the school building with visitor check-in procedures. Staff will receive annual training on emergency protocols, and a safety audit will be conducted twice a year to identify and address potential risks.
