How it Got Started

For over three years, a group of like-minded authorizers and authorizer associations came together to impact authorizing practices for alternative education campuses through the A-GAME. The content inspired many heart-felt conversations, changes in practices, and an awareness to equity and accessibility in the educational system that supports “alternative schools” in meeting the social-emotional learning needs of ALL students.

It is with this spirit that a small group of authorizers from across the nation volunteered to carry the work forward. The group has been meeting weekly since September 2020, building off of each other’s professional and personal experiences and backgrounds, and most importantly by taking on the call of Antionette Carroll (the Founder, President and CEO of Creative Reaction Lab) that, “If different forms of oppressions are by design then they can be redesigned to create a world that embraces the rights, dignity and power of all people.”

The work is personal and professional while also never-ending. As we continue this journey together, the tension between “not acting” and “doing it wrong” will help guide our steps and light our way.
