Sylvia joined the Institute in the spring of 2021, immediately adding value to the Epicenter team. Having made a difference in the charter sector in Hawaii since 2000, the depth of Sylvia's experience uniquely positioned her to hit the ground running. She came aboard hailing from the Hawaii State Public Charter School Commission since 2013, where she assumed increasing levels of responsibility as a School Services Specialist and Organizational Performance Specialist. Moreover, Sylvia's prior experiences with the Hawaii State Public Charter School Review Panel and the West Hawaii Explorations Academy, provided her with a level of background not often found in the charter industry, having served as a Business Manager and School Administrative Services Assistant. Through all of these roles, Sylvia kept the main thing the main thing - making a positive difference for kids. Sylvia received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Chaminade University.
