Students with colorful futures
Building upon the success of the annual Essay Contest, in 2016 we launched the Midwest Charter Schools Art Contest for K-5 charter school students from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. In that first year, nearly 2,000 students submitted artwork and shared their plans for the future. Our goal was to encourage kids to be creative and dream big -- and to help inspire adults to keep working hard to help kids turn their dreams into reality. We succeeded and were amazed to receive such an array of diverse ideas and talent!
“You’re my hero, because...”
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.” - Hercules
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They can be famous or ordinary, weak or strong. Real life heroes are defined by their courageous acts and unwillingness to give up, no matter what!
Is your hero your fearless mother? A smart teacher? Your courageous big brother? Or is it someone famous who pursued their dreams and succeeded? We want you to show us who your hero is and why.
Be creative and send us a picture of your hero doing whatever it is that makes them great! Submit your artwork for a chance to win!
The contest is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin charter schools. Use crayons, pencils, paint, chalk — whatever material you want — to show us who your hero is and why.
Entries are being accepted until October 31st and winners will be announced the week of December 10th.
We can't wait to see your creation!
The 2018 Midwest Charter Schools Art Contest is now closed. Thank you for participating! The winners will be announced December 10th. Good luck!
