Vice President for Authorizing Services
The Vice President for Authorizing Services will be a member of the Institute’s leadership team and will be responsible for developing and delivering an array of programs, tools, and services designed to support the needs of charter school authorizers.
The Institute expects the Vice President for Authorizing Services to:
- Have a deep understanding of the authorizer-board-school relationship
- Navigate the different legal, structural and political contexts in which authorizers operate
- Be credible, competent and able to develop relationships of mutual trust and respect
- Coach and consult with both the staff and board members of authorizing agencies
- Deliver on our promises to our partners, providing outstanding value and support
- Be responsible for pursuing and securing professional services agreements with authorizers
- Support, encourage, and help optimize the use of Epicenter by authorizers
- Be a thought leader on how and why authorizing can be more than a regulatory function
- Identify and respond to request for proposals (RFPs) and grant opportunities
- Develop detailed scopes of work and budgets based on partner and organizational needs, context, and timelines
- Foster and support professional learning communities for authorizers that are timely and engaging
- Support, encourage, and develop content for the Institute’s Charter Network platform
- Help propel the Institute’s flywheel by expanding our authorizer relations, supports and services
- Lead and manage a variety of projects and partner engagements
- Be able to write and speak to diverse audiences with authenticity, clarity, and purpose

Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s desired
- 5 years plus experience in authorizing
- Strong experience and knowledge of the education sector
- Experience in coaching, consulting, and helping others to develop strong practices
- Effectively led teams and worked across the organization with initiatives that have led to impact
- Excel at building relationships and demonstrating awareness of others to collaborate effectively in reaching common goals
- Ability to plan, manage and effectuate change in an agile environment
- Demonstrated ability to utilize data to narrow the focus on the target market and adjust strategy as needed
- Experience building trusted relationships with school-board-authorizer leaders and other external and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrated passion for quality and excellence and a steadfast commitment to the “customer first” philosophy
Location:
The Institute has team members located across the country and operates in an on-site and virtual/remote work environment. This position is anticipated to be remote/virtual except for occasional organizational events such as all-team retreats, partner engagements and conferences.

Compensation:
This role is a full-time, salaried position with full health benefits (medical, dental, vision, prescription, life and long-term disability), a 403(B) plan, and a generous paid time off policy. Salary is commensurate with experience with a range between $130,000 - $180,000.
